Sparks is a part of Girl Guide of Canada, a group designed to create a safe space for young women focusing on leadership skills and inclusivity. Sparks is for girls ages 5 and 6. In Sparks, girls have fun trying a bit of everything and begin discovering their individual skills, talents and interests.
Noni Thomas offers music lessons in the YBH room at Trinity on a weekly basis. A gifted musician and performer in her own right, Noni is also a new and desirous of spreading her love of music and children to others. Noni has a special class for mom’s and tots, a way to nourish both mother and child with the gift of music. We are delighted to partner with Noni Thomas Music.
The Shepherd’s Cupboard Foodbank has been serving the Shelburne area for almost 30 years. Born out of the faith convictions of area churches and with the generous support of people from the local area, a team of 40 volunteers and board members have endeavored to keep the doors open and the food shelves stocked, a feat that is increasingly more difficult as numbers of users continue to rise.. .
First Line for Syria is a small non-profit group of neighbours, all volunteers, who mostly live on the First Line of Mono in Ontario . In the fall of 2015 they decided to officially launch a campaign to sponsor a Syrian refugee family. The family arrived in February of 2016 and they have now integrated into Canadian society while we celebrate their many successes:
Rural Response is an initiative of Family Transition Place in Orangeville. It provides safety, support and hope for women living in rural areas by reducing barriers to service in the communities of north Dufferin. The Rural Response Program can offer transportation, home visits, child care, and access to after-hours service as some of the ways it helps women living in isolated ways who require assistance.
Souphaus opened their loving embrace to the Shelburne community three years ago this coming November. Soyhala Smith is the head chef and along with Josh Oatman and their many devoted volunteers, they serve nutritious, complimentary dinners for whomever would enjoy an evening out. Thick soups, delicious appetizers, fresh bread or scones, and yummy deserts are all to be enjoyed.
The Shelburne Farmer’s Market assembles its venders right outside Trinity United Church on First Avenue West every Thursday from 3 – 7 rain or shine. Local farmers offer up fresh, seasonal produce, local artisans show off their crafts, and bakers temp all passers by with their delicious pies, breads and pasteries. It is a wonderful place to scoop up the best the area has to offer in produce. . .
The Goal for this group is to help build support for LGBTQ youth (ages 13-23), to decrease the isolation that some youth may face. It can be scary for a youth to realize that they are gay / queer and feel that they do not have the support of their family and/or close friends. This can make people feel very alone and can be very isolating for folks.LGBTQ Youth Community of Shelburne creates a space where youth can feel safe and supported.
Meals on Wheels is a program, run by the County of Dufferin Community Support Services, where volunteers deliver hot meals to seniors living in their own home. In Shelburne, the meals are prepared at the Dufferin Oaks kitchen and are delivered three times a week by Service Club members or community groups.
Embracing the Spirit is a new learning network and innovation fund. It aims to spur innovation, pilot new programs, support successful initiatives, create a learning network for faith communities, and support both new and renewing faith communities across the United Church of Canada.
EDGE is a Network of Developing Ministries that exists within the United Church of Canada as part of Mission and Service, supporting and encouraging these ministries in a variety of ways.

Community Innovation Hubs are communities of faith where changemakers gather and support each other in the important work of making a difference in society. It is where changemakers build out their ideas, connect with other like-minded individuals and form relationships of trust, accountability, learning and support. Here, local changemakers. . .
Through KAIROS, 10 churches and religious organizations work together in faithful action for ecological justice and human rights. Through KAIROS, ordinary Canadians of faith and conscience work together for extraordinary change. KAIROS brings people together, working across denominations.
Compassion lies at the heart of generosity, and generosity is the heart of Mission and Service. From serving a hot meal at a local soup kitchen, to visiting a lonely neighbour, to financially supporting those in need in our local communities and around the world, the people of the United Church are committed to turning compassion into action through Mission and Service.
The Quiet Garden Movement nurtures access to outdoor space for prayer and reflection in a variety of settings, such as private homes, churches, retreat centres, schools and hospitals – and creates opportunities for people to experience silence, restfulness and contemplative practices, with regular quiet days and retreats being offered in many Quiet Gardens. There are over 300 Quiet Gardens worldwide.
