Physical Gathering for Services on Hold

I know this is very disappointing to some people, but both groups in charge of looking into the advisability of reopening the churches have advised that this is no longer wise. Trinity was to re open on Thanksgiving Weekend. But given that the provincial government is advising everyone to stay home through the Thanksgiving weekend and Covid 19 cases are on the rise again, it is best we stand in solidarity with our community in this matter of safely and wellness.

After enjoying two gatherings at Primrose the last two weeks, Primrose has come to a similar conclusion and tomorrow’s service is cancelled, and reopening is on hold.

The theme for our podcast this week is ‘let me serve you.’ And we must take this seriously in the weeks ahead. Many are anxious. Uncertainly is hard to live through, especially if you are alone. Please try and reach out to people who come to mind. A phone call or a card can be very helpful to those in your church family and the community at large.

Many Thanks to Those Who Oversaw Saturday’s Sale at Primrose

It was cold on Saturday, but that did not deter the ladies - and gentlemen - from being well organized for the sale of vintage and antique goods outside by the gardens at Primrose. Many thanks to Faye, Gwynn, and Phyllis who oversaw the event. It may be the last one we have for quite some time. But let’s hope by the spring, we have some relief in sight so we can gathering the way of days past.

Don’t worry if you missed Dr. David Gushee - see below!

From Rev. LeeAnn McKenna, and with Appreciation to the Gathering of Baptists

Some of us were part of Dr David Gushee's presentation on Changing Our Mind about his own journey full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in our churches, some in person at Burlington Baptist Church and most by Zoom.  The presentation was followed by a Q&A session from a wide variety of questioners coming in from across Ontario as well as BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Yukon.  There were several of you who indicated you were planning to be a part of it but, in the end, were unable to do so.  David Gushee has kindly made his presentation available to us all, so you can watch it above in its entirety. These resources will be helpful as our churches move into a process of becoming intentionally Welcoming and Affirming.

At the end of the event, there was an announcement of a follow-up event that will take place by Zoom on Saturday, October 24 at 9:00 a.m. EDT entitled, "Hearing Queer Voices in the Church."  More information on this event will be sent out as the date gets closer.  Spread the word!
