“It’ll All Work Out...”

It is amazing the various states of minds people can hold on to during challenging times. A Shelburne Primrose long-time member was recently heard saying, "It'll all work out in the long run, it always does." These words can be very helpful and uplifting to the people who hear them. What might individuals experience if their minds were filled with stories of doom? And how would that impact the people around them hearing a pessimistic forecast?

As followers of Jesus and believers in his message, no matter what situations we find ourselves in, we can turn to Jesus' teaching to choose beliefs and words that will lift us up and those around us. Thank you to the wisdom of this member and many others who continue to offer messages of hope, faith, and love.

The theme for this Sunday's service is Humanitarian Work Through Faith Principles. How are we using our faith to love and serve others? Another interesting topic for us to explore as a faith community.

Humanitarian Work Through Faith Principles

Our guest speaker will be Shaila Carter (Bella) who is the Interfaith Advisor at Islamic Relief Canada where she helps in projects to alleviate poverty. Shaila is most known for her passion for alleviating poverty, speaking for the oppressed, and joining alliances to help improve the community.

Shaila has been called upon for interfaith dialogue for opening ceremonies and some members of SPPC may remember her work with Rev. Candice Bist. Shaila strives to build bridges between different faiths. This has led her to pursue her master’s in interfaith Pastoral Studies at the University of Toronto. After writing a book, Maariyah's Day, Shaila was pleased to have it featured in Chapter's bookstores across the country. She is also proud of her work on CBC Radio 1, freelancing stories about the multicultural tapestry in Canada.
